Privacy Policy
Last updated 25 September 2026
We're a small whānau business, and we treat your information the way we'd want ours treated. This policy explains what we collect when you shop with Something Kiwi, why, who we share it with, and your rights under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
Who we are
Something Kiwi is a Māori-owned business based in Aotearoa New Zealand, selling online at this website. If you have any question about your information, email us at contact@somethingkiwi.co.nz.
What we collect
- When you order: your name, email address, phone number (if you give it), delivery address, and what you bought.
- Payment details: your card is entered on Stripe's secure checkout page and processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
- Your shopping bag: kept in your own browser on your device so it's still there when you come back. It isn't sent to us until you check out.
- When you contact us: your email and anything you choose to tell us.
We don't use advertising or tracking cookies on this website.
How we use it
- To process, pack and deliver your order, and to send your order confirmation and tracking details.
- To help with questions, returns, refunds and warranty claims.
- To keep the business records New Zealand law requires, such as tax records.
- To prevent fraud and keep our shop secure.
- Now and then, to email customers about new pieces or offers. Every one of those emails has an unsubscribe link, or just tell us to stop.
Who we share it with
We only share what each service needs to do its job, and we never sell your information. These are:
- Stripe, to take your payment securely.
- Our courier (such as NZ Post or DHL), to deliver your parcel.
- Our technology providers: Vercel (website hosting), Neon (our order database), and Resend (sending order emails).
- Surge Unlimited, the agency that runs our customer records system and helps us with marketing.
- Anyone we're required to share it with by law.
Information stored overseas
Some of these providers store information outside New Zealand, including in the United States and Australia. We choose providers that protect personal information to standards comparable to the Privacy Act.
How long we keep it
We keep order records for seven years, because New Zealand tax law requires it. Other information is kept only as long as we need it for the reasons above.
Keeping it safe
Our website uses encrypted (HTTPS) connections, payments are handled by Stripe, and access to order information is limited to the people who need it to run the shop.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. Email contact@somethingkiwi.co.nz and we'll respond within 20 working days.
If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and the date at the top. See also our Terms of Sale and Store Policies.
